A valuable package of training should have accredited exam simulation and preparation packages. Sometimes people can find themselves confused by trying to prepare themselves with questions that are not from official boards. - Tension can run high inside the classroom where the right pace for one student is not the same as another.

- Never forget the increased cost of travelling and bed and breakfast for the night either. Often, this will cost hundreds and even thousands of pounds extra. Sit down and add it up - you'll be (unpleasantly) surprised.

- Is it worth any chance of being passed-over for a lift up the ladder or salary hikes because you're getting trained in a different area.

- Who amongst us hasn't avoided asking a question, because we wanted to maintain the illusion that we did, in fact, understand?

- For those who have work away from home, you have the added problem that classes can become difficult to get to - but unfortunately, the money has already been paid.

It really does make so much more sense to be trained when it's convenient for you - not the company - and use virtual lab environments with videos of your instructors. Imagine... If you've got a notebook PC then you're free to learn wherever you want. And 24 hr-a-day support is an online click away when you get challenged. You'll never have to write notes again - every lesson is laid out for you already. If you want to re-do anything, just do it. Quite simply: Time and money is saved, you have reduced hassle and you completely avoid polluting the environment.

Many individuals switch into I.T. from very different professions. This may mean different entry points, depending on past experience & software skill competencies. For more senior packages its a good idea to talk your ideas through with a specialist advisor who has IT knowledge. But almost any complete job change plans really should be talked over before diving in - it's a logical step to confirm the training you select is actually fit for purpose. Trainees who do not plan in advance where they're going from the beginning frequently find themselves wasting considerable time and money - which might have been prevented with a simple 30 min discussion.
